Short answer
Reviewers agree the camera and battery are the highlights. The variable aperture is called the best iPhone camera upgrade in years, and battery life is near the iPhone 17 Pro Max. The criticism: a higher price and few changes elsewhere.
A month after launch, there's a clear consensus on the iPhone 18 Pro.
What reviewers like
- The variable-aperture main camera and Pro Controls — Amateur Photographer calls it Apple's best camera yet for photographers.
- Battery life: 9to5Mac's month-long review often ends the day with about 60% left.
- The vapor chamber keeps the phone usable outdoors on hot days.
- The smaller Dynamic Island.
What reviewers don't like
- A $100 price increase in the US.
- A design that's nearly unchanged from iPhone 17 Pro.
- No single must-have feature for non-photographers (Trusted Reviews).
- iOS 27 and Siri AI also reach older iPhones, reducing the software reason to upgrade (BGR).
Our take
The reviews match what we hear from customers: if you shoot a lot of photos or are coming from iPhone 15 Pro or older, it's a strong upgrade. iPhone 17 Pro owners can wait.
