Apple has finally entered the foldable market. iPhone Duo opens like a book into a 7.6-inch display that Apple says is 50% larger than iPhone 18 Pro Max, and folds shut into a phone with a 5.4-inch outer screen you can use one-handed.

UAE price and release date
The UAE is in Apple's first wave of more than 70 countries. Reported UAE pricing starts at AED 8,499 for 256GB, rising to AED 9,349 (512GB), AED 11,049 (1TB) and AED 13,599 (2TB). In the US, iPhone Duo starts at $1,999.
Pre-orders open on Friday 16 October and the phone is available from Friday 23 October 2026. Early launch stock of a brand-new category is often tight, so if you want a specific colour and storage tier, decide before pre-orders open.
What's genuinely new
- Split View on iPhone for the first time: two apps side by side, or two windows of the same app.
- StandBy that works anywhere, on whichever display faces up, even when you aren't charging.
- An interface that adapts to how the phone is angled — closed, open, half-folded laptop-style or standing like a tent.
- A split keyboard when the display is partly folded, making thumb typing easier on the wide screen.
- A crease-hiding nano-texture layer that Apple says also reduces glare.
What's missing compared with iPhone 18 Pro
There is no dedicated telephoto camera. Zoom relies on a 2x optical-quality crop from the 48MP main sensor, so if you regularly shoot distant subjects, iPhone 18 Pro is the stronger camera.
Several UAE outlets report that iPhone Duo uses Touch ID in the side button instead of Face ID. That keeps the folded phone thinner, but it is a change for anyone used to looking at their phone to unlock it.

- People who read, edit documents, manage spreadsheets or review contracts on the go and want a near-tablet screen in a pocket.
- Frequent travellers who watch films on flights and want one device instead of a phone and an iPad mini.
