Condition decides most of the value.
Short answer

Trade-in value depends on model, storage, battery health, screen condition and whether it is unlocked. Back up, erase, remove Activation Lock and use the estimator on Find Next Phone for a current figure.

Values change quickly after new iPhone launches, so check a live estimate instead of relying on old figures.

What affects value

  • Model and storage.
  • Battery health.
  • Screen and body condition, including lines or cracks.
  • Whether it is unlocked and not tied to an iCloud account.
  • Original box and accessories (small effect).

Prepare your iPhone

  1. Back up your iPhone.
  2. Sign out of iCloud and turn off Find My.
  3. Erase all content and settings.
  4. Remove your SIM or eSIM.
  5. Clean the phone and take clear photos.

Faulty phone?

A phone with a green line or a cracked screen still has value, but less. Compare the repair cost with the trade-in difference.

Trade in or keep?

If your battery is worn, a battery replacement may be cheaper than upgrading. If you want newer features, trade-in credit can cover a large part of the next iPhone.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need the box?

Can I trade in a damaged phone?
